Cheap & Fun Family Activities

Summer is winding down, and if you are like many you want to enjoy every last minute. We have put together a few ideas that are family friendly and inexpensive.

MOVIE NIGHT. - Gather the family around, pick an old classic movie and get ready to enjoy. Pop some popcorn and bust out some candy. There is nothing quite like watching a good wholesome movie together as you munch away on good treats.

SLIP N' SLIDE. - Get a tarp from your local hardware store. Place it on a hill or even in your back yard. Squirt soap over tarp and wet with water. Take turns slipping on down. This activity is is guaranteed to be a hit with young and old.

ICE BLOCKING. - Go to your grocery store in the freezer department and grab a block of ice. Make sure you bring a towel. Pick a park that has a hill...the steeper the better. Next place your towel on your ice block, and prepare for a fun ride!

These are just a few ideas to do! We would love to hear your feedback, on what are your family traditions are! Leave a  comment below!

Are you getting enough sleep?

SLEEP.

Probably one of the most critical aspects of survival. Something as simple and important can also be so impossible and rare.

With hectic schedules, busy lives and constant moving it is hard to find the time to get a good night's rest.

Here are several tips that should help you sleep better:

1. Set a regular bedtime

2. Wake up at the same time everyday

3. Nap to make up for lost sleep (limit to 30 minute power naps)

4. Be smart about napping (not too late in the afternoon or too long)

5. Fight after dinner drowsiness by doing something active such as washing dishes or take a walk

We hope that you each receive the rest you need to be recharged and ready to go after
those dreams of yours!

Have a great day!

Warmest Regards,

A Hidden Treasure

Red Hill park is a secret treasure that is worthy to show and tell. With summer brings the desire to spend time outside and soak up those rays in a relaxing and fun environment.

Located in off Vineyard in Rancho Cucamonga, California... this is the perfect place to have a picnic outside once it has cooled off. There is even a lake where ducks, fish and turtles swim in. It is very entertaining to watch the animals in their natural habitat.

Our family has been there many times and have enjoyed the green landscape, walking paths and the laughter of small children as they play on the kids play area. If you haven't experienced Red Hill Park, you most definitely should. Its worth taking a break and breath in the fresh air.

Happy Tuesday All!

We all Scream for Ice Cream

It is the end of the week and the start of a brand new weekend. It is amazing how fast this summer is flying by. Today is already the 12th of July!

It seems the older you get the faster time passes by. Which makes us appreciate the simple things in life from sitting outside with your family on the front lawn to making homemade ice cream.

One of our family tradition's in the Sears household is we would make homemade vanilla ice cream.
Each kid would help gather the ingredients. Anxiously we assembled the cream, sugar, and vanilla in the ice cream maker. Then the boys would place the ice cream maker outside and cover it with ice and rock salt.

Then the magic happened, the ice cream machine rotated noisily outside. We each waited patiently for the creamy ice cream to be ready to eat!

Once finished we would take the ice cream container inside and start scooping the ice cream into bowls. Sometimes we would top it with fresh fruit or chocolate chips.

It's interesting though as much as we enjoyed eating the ice cream, half the fun and joy was in making it as a family. :)

Vanilla Ice Cream

Ingredients:

4 cups half & half or light whipping cream
2 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup white sugar

As Needed:
Rock Salt
Ice

Directions:

Have a happy weekend!
