It seems the older you get the faster time passes by. Which makes us appreciate the simple things in life from sitting outside with your family on the front lawn to making homemade ice cream.
One of our family tradition's in the Sears household is we would make homemade vanilla ice cream.
Each kid would help gather the ingredients. Anxiously we assembled the cream, sugar, and vanilla in the ice cream maker. Then the boys would place the ice cream maker outside and cover it with ice and rock salt.
Then the magic happened, the ice cream machine rotated noisily outside. We each waited patiently for the creamy ice cream to be ready to eat!
Once finished we would take the ice cream container inside and start scooping the ice cream into bowls. Sometimes we would top it with fresh fruit or chocolate chips.
It's interesting though as much as we enjoyed eating the ice cream, half the fun and joy was in making it as a family. :)
